If it were about the food and what to eat, you'd have solved emotional eating a long time ago. When something more is going on, it's usually a restlessness, a change that wants to happen in your life. It can be about life purpose, about relationships (with yourself or with others), about emotions you've never learned to experience (hence the numbing and stuffing), about self-protection (creating a physical barrier between yourself and what you fear), or about your own blend of learnings that you accumulated over the years.
